This notice explains what personal information this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written for people who are not Chinese law experts, and it is meant to be read rather than skimmed.

Who is responsible. InsureTourChina is operated by an individual registered as an insurance sales practitioner, working within the authorisation of a licensed insurance institution. The operator is the data controller for the information collected through this site.

What is collected

  • What you type into the enquiry form — Your name, email address, and WhatsApp number if you give one, which of the two situations you are in, the product category you are asking about, and the description you write. If your message contains health information, treat it as sensitive — write it only if you are comfortable, and ask us to delete it at any time.
  • What the server records — The usual technical logs: IP address, browser and device type, the page you came from, and the time. These exist to keep the site running and to spot abuse.
  • What we do not collect — We do not ask for your passport number, your social insurance number, your bank details or your health records on this site. If any of these are genuinely needed, they are collected directly by the insurer on its own platform — never through this site.

Why it is collected

  • Answering you — To reply to your enquiry, prepare the written brief, and explain the terms of a specific policy.
  • Meeting legal obligations — Insurance sales records have to be retained for a statutory period, and the rules on record-keeping and on the use of customer information apply to us as well as to insurers.
  • Improving the site — To understand which pages are read and which are not, so the content can be corrected.

Who it is shared with

  • The insurer, when you proceed — If you go on to apply for a policy, the insurer needs your information to underwrite and issue it. That transfer happens on the insurer's platform and under the insurer's own privacy notice.
  • The affiliated institution — Where our authorisation to sell is held, the affiliated institution is subject to the same conduct and record-keeping rules we are, and may be entitled to see the sales record.
  • Nobody else — We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. There is no advertising network on this site and no third-party tracking script.

How long it is kept

Enquiry records are kept for as long as needed to serve the enquiry and to meet the record-keeping obligations that apply to insurance sales, and are then deleted or anonymised. Technical logs are kept for a short period and then discarded. You can ask us to delete an enquiry record at any time — with the one exception of records we are legally required to retain.

Your rights

  • ✓Ask what information we hold about you, and get a copy.
  • ✓Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
  • ✓Ask us to delete your enquiry record.
  • ✓Withdraw your consent to be contacted.
  • ✓Complain to the regulator if you think we have handled your information improperly.

Contacting us

Write to info@insuretourchina.com. If your question is about a claim rather than about this website, the claim channel of the insurer named on your policy is the right route, and complaints about how that claim was handled can also be raised with the financial regulator on 12378.

Information sent from outside China

This site is operated from mainland China, and the information you submit is stored there. If you are contacting us from outside China, you are sending that information into mainland China yourself. Where you later buy a policy with cash value, the insurer's own reporting obligations to tax authorities apply — that is a consequence of the policy, not of this website.
