Compliance and disclosure

Who is behind this site, what they are licensed to do, what they are not allowed to do, and how to verify every claim on this page.

An independent site, operated by a licensed practitioner.

InsureTourChina is a private website operated by an individual registered as an insurance sales practitioner. It is not an insurance company, not a licensed insurance intermediary, and not a multi-brand group. The site exists because the questions it answers — social insurance for foreign employees, pension contributions from abroad, mainland medical cover for people whose treatment happens in China — are almost never answered by the channels that sell the products.

Because we are a practitioner rather than an insurer, everything that legally belongs to an insurer or a licensed intermediary stays with them. Underwriting, issuing the contract, holding the premium and deciding the claim are not ours to do. We are responsible for explaining the terms accurately and for the paperwork around them.

Who we are

Identity and authorisation disclosure

Insurance sales in mainland China are regulated. A site that sells or advises on insurance has to show who is operating it, who is licensed, and under whose authority. All three are below.

The framework

The rules that shape how we work

Summarised in plain language, with the point of each rule rather than the article number.

🪪

Salespeople act for a licensed institution

An individual cannot sell insurance in mainland China on their own account. Registration is done by one licensed institution, and the work is done within that institution's authorisation. That is why the institution's name and licence number appear above, and why you can check them.

💳

Premium does not pass through us

Premium is paid by the policyholder to the insurer, from the policyholder's own account. An intermediary may not collect premium from a client's account, and may not handle a payment from an account that is not the policyholder's own.

📊

Advice is not a quotation

Premium calculation, quote building and plan design are regulated activities that belong to the insurer or the licensed intermediary. We explain what terms mean; we do not run a premium calculator, quote a price, or submit an application in your name.

📄

You submit, we prepare

The application is made by you on the insurer's own platform, and you answer the health declaration yourself. Nothing is submitted and nothing is confirmed on your behalf — that includes the final tick on any contract document.

⚠️

Exclusions must be explained

A limitation clause has no effect unless the insurer has drawn it to the insured's attention in a way an ordinary person would understand. That is why the exclusions get written out for you rather than left in the small print.

🤝

Consent has to be real

No signing on the client's behalf, no pre-ticked boxes, no bundling a product into a form as a condition of something else. The free-look period, waiting periods and cash value must be disclosed before you commit.

🚫

No promises about outcomes

Returns cannot be promised, and payouts cannot be guaranteed. False claims about claim outcomes attract regulatory sanctions. If a provider promises you a result, that is a signal to walk away — not a signal that they are confident.

🧾

Records are kept

Insurance sales conversations are subject to record-keeping rules, including on the use of customer information for sales purposes. A record of what was said to you may exist even if it was not written down here.

How we describe products

Editorial standards

Applied to everything on this site, and to everything we write for a client.

RuleHow it shows up in practice
Structure, not productsWe describe how a category is built without naming specific in-force products, because terms and pricing change with each filing version.
No invented figuresNo benefit amounts, premiums or percentages appear unless they come from a current contract document.
Policy wording governsEvery explanation is followed by the caveat that the contract wording governs — including where we summarise it.
No third-party attributionContent compiled from public guidance is rewritten in our own editorial voice, with no outside outlet named and no links to third-party material.
Machine translation disclosedTranslated versions carry a notice that the English version is authoritative.
Complaints

If something went wrong

Tell us what happened. If it was our fault, we will say so. And if you would rather go straight to a formal channel, that is entirely reasonable.

📣

Your policy's insurer

The insurer named on your policy contract handles the claim and the complaint about that claim. Its customer service line and complaint address are printed on the policy document.

Our affiliated institution

📣

Financial regulator

12378 — the National Financial Regulatory Administration complaint hotline. Use it where the conduct you want to complain about concerns insurance sales, intermediary conduct, or the handling of your complaint by the insurer or intermediary.

The order matters. A complaint about how a claim was handled goes to the insurer first, because only the insurer can change that decision. A complaint about how you were sold the policy can go to the affiliated institution named above, and to the regulator if it is not resolved. Where you are not sure which applies, ask us and we will tell you.

Insurance sales on this site are conducted by Chen Gaolun (陈高论) (practitioner registration no. 20346833000082102026001331), a registered insurance sales practitioner of 手回保险代理有限公司(Shouhui Insurance Agency Co., Ltd.) (licence no. 203468000000800), acting within the scope of that institution's authorisation. Products are underwritten by the insurers named in the policy contract; eligibility, premiums and exclusions are governed by that contract. Premium is paid by the policyholder directly to the insurer or the licensed institution — never through this site. Nothing here is a quotation, a recommendation to buy, or a promise of coverage or of claim outcome.
