What this is
Most advice about Chinese insurance is written for people who will never leave China and never leave their own currency. We work with the two groups for whom that assumption fails: foreign residents inside mainland China, and Chinese citizens living outside it who still have a life, a family or a pension in China.
Both groups face the same underlying problem — the product, the medical system and the paperwork are all designed for a domestic resident. That produces predictable failures: policies that lapse because a residence condition was missed, claims that stall because a document was not collected, money that never arrives because the beneficiary was never formally designated.
Who you are dealing with
InsureTourChina is a private website operated by an individual registered as an insurance sales practitioner. It is not an insurance company, not a licensed insurance intermediary, and not a multi-brand group. The site exists because the questions it answers — social insurance for foreign employees, pension contributions from abroad, mainland medical cover for people whose treatment happens in China — are almost never answered by the channels that sell the products.
Because we are a practitioner rather than an insurer, everything that legally belongs to an insurer or a licensed intermediary stays with them. Underwriting, issuing the contract, holding the premium and deciding the claim are not ours to do. We are responsible for explaining the terms accurately and for the paperwork around them.
This site is not affiliated with, and does not share data with, any other website or business. It is a standalone operation with its own enquiry records and its own client files.
What we do about it
We start by reading the cover you already have — statutory social insurance, employer arrangements, existing policies — before discussing anything new, because the gap is what you are actually buying. Then we explain what you are eligible for, what the wording in each category actually means, and which questions are worth putting to the insurer.
And then we stay on the file. Renewal tracking, the annual review, the paperwork when a claim happens.
How we are paid
Where our affiliated institution places a policy, it receives commission from the insurer under its own filing. We are remunerated by that institution under our authorisation, and that arrangement is disclosed to you before any application is made. We do not charge you a separate consulting fee for reading a policy, and we do not hold your money at any point.
One consequence worth stating plainly: because our income follows placement, we would rather you buy the right policy once than the wrong one quickly. That is also why we are explicit about the categories we are not recommending in a given situation.
What we are not
We are not an insurance company, not a licensed immigration service, and not a tax adviser. We do not underwrite, we do not decide claims, and we do not file immigration applications. Where a matter needs a licence we do not hold, we say so and point you at someone who has it.
Who to ask
Chen Gaolun (陈高论) is the practitioner behind this site, registered with 手回保险代理有限公司(Shouhui Insurance Agency Co., Ltd.). Their registration number and the institution's licence number are published on the compliance page, and both can be checked against the official registers listed there.
